OUR FARRIER

Joel Ondrusek has 20 years of experience with horses. He is a 1992 graduate of Southwest Texas State University with a BS in Geography and a minor in Animal Science. He is a 1997 graduate of Hill Country Horseshoeing School. Since 1997 He has organized and participated in bi-annual forging and horseshoeing clinics with five time world champion blacksmith, Bob Marshall. Mr. Ondrusek actively participates and teaches in horse-owner seminars relating to hoof care, proper trimming, and shoeing. He is a Certified Farrier by the American Farriers Association. He specializes in performance horses – show jumpers, show hunters, dressage and eventers. Therapeutic work is done only from veterinarian and farrier referrals. His philosophy is to evaluate the horse, taking into account its conformation, intended use, and environmental living conditions. He strives to achieve medial/lateral and dorsal/palmar foot balance through proper trimming and compliment the balanced foot with a custom made and precision fit piece of ironwork. Every shoe is made exclusively from concave bar stock. Concave steel is used extensively in Europe and can be used successfully on any type of horse in any riding discipline. Concave steel can be forged to suit a variety of shoeing styles, types and needs from block heels, penciled heels, rolled toes, caulk and wedges, heart bars and many more.

Mr. Ondrusek provides all Farrier services for Thank You Farm.
