OUR FARM MANAGERDr. Dee Harris-King is our farm owner and manager. She started riding at age 8 in Austin at Hobby Horse Stable. There she trained in classical hunter and jumper techniques with trainers: Jimmy and Jane Burr, Colonel and Chris Russell, and Louis DeLafalett from Cuba. She Attended USET tryouts and was trained by Ed Shapo and William Steinkraus. She competed actively in the Southwest Hunter and Jumper Association for 10 years. She continued to train and ride through the years, and has recently trained with Francisco Berra in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She was a registered veterinary technician when she returned to Texas A&M and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. She then did a small animal internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City before returning to Houston where she completed a residency training program and was board certified in Veterinary radiation oncology (Diplomat in the College of Veterinary Radiology, Radiation Oncology) in 1998. But her passion since childhood when she began to ride hunter/jumper has been her horses. She has completed the Monte Roberts Class on gentle horse management and training techniques. She and her barn personnel use this method to care for horses at Thank You Farm. Dr Harris has just completed 132 hours in Equine Acupuncture Classes at Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine in Reddick, FL. Dr. Harris is now in a position to spend her time riding and training her horses as the manager of Thank You Farm. She and her husband live on site at the farm. |
